The 12 Links of Interdependent Origination provide insight into the cycle of death and rebirth. There are 12 Links in this chain: (1) Ignorance, (2) karmic creation, (3) consciousness, (4) the five mental aggregates, (5) the five senses, (6) contact, (7) feeling, (8) grasping , (9) attachment and avoidance, (10) becoming, (11) rebirth, (12) aging and death. They cause us to remain in the cycle of death and rebirth – endlessly – until we can break that chain through enlightenment.
